Beginning in 1911 the main street branch of Clarkston State Bank (the “Bank”) was opened to provide banking services to the downtown area as well as surrounding farms. The Bank provided a much needed local presence for banking services. Over the years the ownership has changed several times and in 1997 National Bank of Detroit closed the branch and discontinued what had been a fixture in the community for 86 years. After careful review, it was determined that a local community bank was once again needed where customer service and local, timely decision making was needed. Several local entrepreneurs developed a business plan and soon thereafter received regulatory approval to commence operations. The doors were opened in January 1999 and the Bank now operates out of four offices in north Oakland County. Clarkston State Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Clarkston Financial Corporation (Symbol “CKFC”) a holding company listed on the Over the Counter exchange.
